Chorley Council Climate Change Strategy Approved

In December, Labour Chorley Council has approved its new Climate Change Strategy for 2025-2030, setting out a clear framework for reducing carbon emissions, protecting the environment, and supporting residents and businesses to adapt to the challenges of climate change.

This important strategy outlines how our Labour Borough Council will:

  • Work towards net zero carbon emissions in line with national targets.
  • Promote sustainable transport and energy use, including investment in greener infrastructure.
  • Support biodiversity and nature recovery, ensuring Chorley’s green spaces are protected and enhanced.
  • Engage with communities and businesses to encourage climate‑friendly practices and raise awareness.

The Council’s Labour leads for all things Environmental & Climate Change are  Adrian Lowe, and Mark Clifford and both have welcomed this development stating that ………. “This strategy is about making sure Chorley plays its part in tackling the global climate emergency. We want to lead by example, reduce our own emissions, and support residents and businesses to do the same.”

Our new strategy is an important milestone, but the real work starts now as we put these commitments into action. With 43 separate actions targeting energy, transport, biodiversity, waste, and community engagement there is a lot to get on and deliver

The strategy will see action straight away and progress will be monitored, recorded and shared so people can see how things are moving forward. Working closely with local partners, residents and businesses, we hope that everyone will play a part in meeting Chorley’s climate goals.  If you want to have a look at the full Climate Change Strategy please follow the link  at chorleyclimatechange.co.uk/CCStrategy.
