Meet Your Candidate - Gillian Sharples
Gillian Sharples is the Labour candidate for the Buckshaw and Whittle by-election on 26th June 2025. She recently stood in the Lancashire County Council elections for Euxton, Buckshaw, and Astley, so may be familiar to some voters.
Gillian said: “Although I was unsuccessful in the local elections in May, I valued the opportunity to meet and listen to numerous residents in Buckshaw. I always tried to help as much as possible with any issues raised.”
Gillian served as a Borough Councillor in Euxton South between 2018 and 2021 and also served on Euxton Parish Council between 2018 and 2022. In 2021, Gillian proposed that Chorley Council create a Champion for Mental Health Awareness role and this was voted through unanimously.
“I am passionate about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing having struggled myself at times.”
Gillian lived in Buckshaw Village for eight years and is familiar with some of the issues faced by residents, including anti-social behaviour, speeding and dangerous parking.
If elected, Gillian will:
- Champion improved SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provision in our schools.
- Push for better quality and more efficient pothole repairs on our roads and pavements.
- Work collaboratively with Borough Councillors and local Police to report issues including anti-social behaviour, speeding and dangerous parking.
Published and promoted by David Snape on behalf of Gillian Sharples both of 92 Pall Mall, Chorley, PR7 2LB.
