Hasina Khan
Lead Member for Equality and Diversity
Your Labour Councillor for Chorley East
I have represented Chorley East ward as a Borough Councillor since 2006 when I was elected as the first Councillor of Asian origin to serve on Chorley Council.
In 2019/20 I was proud to become the first Asian Muslim Female Mayor in Lancashire when I was elected as Mayor of Chorley.
Over the years I have served on numerous council committees, including my previous role as the chair of the Children’s Trust in Chorley. I am currently the Chair of Equality and Diversity at Chorley Council, I serve on the Licensing and Public Safety and Overview and Scrutiny Committees.
Having attended St. James’ primary school and Albany Academy (previously St. Albans high school), I have a rich knowledge of the local area and have the interests of our community at heart.
I have always worked hard to represent local residents and to take up any issues they raise with me. This effort was recognised in 2015 when I received an award from the High Sheriff of Lancashire for my achievements in promoting community cohesion and enhancing the life of the community to which I am dedicated.
